On October 16, be a part of the solution in your community and around the world. This year, the subject chosen by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is: "Family Farming: Feeding the World, Caring for the Earth."
The theme has been chosen to raise the awareness on family farming and smallholder farmers. It focuses the world's attention on the significant role played by family farming in eradicating hunger and poverty, providing food security and nutrition, improving livelihoods, managing natural resources, protecting the environment, and achieving sustainable development, especially in rural areas.
