What Is Quinoa Milk?
Quinoa milk is a dairy-free liquid that is made by blending quinoa with water and straining the mixture to remove the pulp. The resulting quinoa milk is a creamy mixture that can be used as a healthy milk alternative.
How to Make Quinoa Milk
You can easily make quinoa milk at home by following these simple steps:
- Cook the quinoa according to package instructions.
- Then place it in a blender along with 3 cups of filtered water.
- Process the mixture until well combined and smooth.
- Strain it using a cheesecloth or a very fine mesh strainer.
- If you'd like to add flavorings, return the quinoa milk back to the blender and add 3-4 dates and ¼ teaspoon of ground cinnamon; 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and agave syrup to taste; or any other flavorings of your choice.
- Pour the quinoa milk into an airtight bottle and store in the fridge for 3 to 4 days.
What to Do with Quinoa Milk
Quinoa milk can be consumed much like regular milk. You may try it with your morning cereal or oatmeal. It can also be used to make smoothies, hot chocolate, coffee, and other beverages.
Benefits of Quinoa Milk
One of the main benefits of drinking quinoa milk is that it is dairy-free. This means that it can be safely consumed by people with dairy allergies or lactose intolerance.
In addition to being daily-free, quinoa is a great source of high quality protein as it contains all nine essential amino acids.1 This is particularly beneficial for those following a vegan or vegetarian diet.
Another benefit of quinoa milk is that it is gluten-free and, therefore, can be safely consumed by people with celiac disease, gluten intolerance, and wheat allergy.
BECAUSE IT IS DAIRY- AND GLUTEN-FREE AS WELL AS RICH IN PROTEIN, QUINOA MILK APPEALS TO MANY PEOPLE WITH DIETARY RESTRICTIONS.
Where to Buy Quinoa Milk
Unfortunately, quinoa milk is not as common as other plant-based milk beverages, like almond milk or rice milk. However, it can be found at some natural food stores or purchased online.
Quinoa milk offers many excellent advantages for people with special dietary needs, but it can also be enjoyed by anyone who likes the taste and nutritional benefits offered by quinoa. If you are looking for a new alternative to animal milk, quinoa milk is a nutty, protein-rich option that is very simple to make at home.
