This sandwich can be assembled in virtually no time if you already have homemade maca hummus on hand. But even if you don't, making it from scratch is easy and quick. It is rich in healthy protein and dietary fiber, making it a great meal to fight indigestion and improve gut function. Fresh vegetables give it a nice crunch and lots of vitamins. Alfalfa sprouts can help lower the absorption of fat and help balance cholesterol levels. Cucumbers, on the other hand, are known for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant substances, which can reduce the signs of the aging process. Sesame seeds and pine nuts offer healthy fats and antioxidants.
To change things up a bit, try making this sandwich with roasted red pepper hummus with sacha inchi. Or better yet, make the bread, too! Try making gluten-free bread with maca or give this aromatic anise seed bread a go.
